The idea of creating a sleeveless knit came in 2021 when we were thinking about producing our first winter piece. We were hesitant between this option or the crossbody jumper design. In the end, Garment 03 became the latter and we kept the vest idea for winter 2023 which we’ve been working on since then! After one whole year, our dream knit vest is finally here!
At Les Izmoor, we only produce pieces that can be worn countless times, in many ways and on different occasions. So just like all our previous garments, this vest was conceived with versatility in mind.
We wanted a knit that can keep you warm in the winter with a cosy turtleneck. But we also wanted this piece to be fitted for mid-seasons. So we made the neck detachable. Like that, you can decide to wear it when it’s cold or take it off when it’s hot!
Thanks to the side straps, the vest can fit different sizes. You can decide to attach the side knot tighter, looser, or even keep it open on top of a dress. The attention to detail can be found on different features that have been selected with care: a double-stitch, a hand-knitted english rib and a trim finishing around the sides of the vest.
When visiting our knitting workshop for the first time, we had the idea of creating a reversible knit with one colour on the inside and another on the outside.
Making it with the english-rib technique was very important to us as we wanted to give this piece an elevated structure. However, when testing the double-coloured stitch with the english-rib, the result was quite disappointing… The two colours got mixed on both sides and it gave a mixed-tone caramel result.
After numerous attempts, we decided to stick with the english-rib but tried making the colour division front-to-back instead of inside-out… The result? A perfectly versatile bi-colour knit!!
Though we started working on this piece more than a year ago, our launching got delayed. Here’s why:
Around the end phase of the development process, our knitwear supplier abandoned us. Everything was organized for its creation but what we hadn’t taken into consideration was that many big luxury brands were reshoring their Asian productions back to Italy. For this reason, our partner decided he did not have time for us.
Finding another supplier has been our biggest challenge because all Italian manufacturers were completely swamped. But we didn’t give up and, in the end, we found Filippo, a knit specialist in Tuscany who was able to help us out and deliver this beautifully crafted piece.
Les Izmoor produces according to demand. Once the pre-order period is over, we create the quantity ordered and produce an additional small batch of pieces.
With pre-orders, you get a lower price (around 30% to 40% off) to reward you for supporting a slow-fashion system. This model allows us to reduce waste and promote smarter non-impulsive purchases.
This time, exclusively because our development got delayed, we created 5 units in advance. The lucky first 5 orders will be shipped directly, just in time for the holidays!!
